Triodos Bank commits to a number of environmental goals and measures progress against them annually:
This year its focus continued to be on reducing paper usage, reducing energy consumption and developing a new EMS manual.
Spanish customers now receive account information via the internet instead of by post, for example. The branch estimates that this will reduce paper consumption by approximately 80% in 2012.
While in the UK and the Netherlands new, more environmentally friendly printers were tested during the year, and in January 2012 will replace printers in both countries.
In Belgium, an Employee Self Service System (a paperless human resources (HR) communications system) was implemented during the year. Co-workers now receive and can manage all HR information, such as pay slips and holiday forms, electronically.
A new EMS Manual was developed during the year to build on the work of the international group, and to increase the effectiveness of its Environmental Management System.
